What are My Current Favorite Smoothie Recipes and Ingredients? Hmm…
- Frozen bananas. Adds an AWESOME ice cream consistency. A half plus some ice is the current mode. (See what I did there? Mode..ala..never mind.)
- Chocolate or Vanilla Shakeology. Vanilla has 30 less calories, so that’s 900 a month saved. But the chocolate is AWEEEESUUUM.
- PB2. 45 calories in 2 TBSP. Forgetaboudit. Yes please.
- Random protein powders. Because, it’s just that much thicker and a little extra if you are doing lots of weights/running/etc. is a given requirement.
- Instant coffee. For some reason, this and PB2 and Chocolate Shakeology brings a caramel flavor to me somehow.
- Pasteurized egg whites. Safe, and the best protein you can get if you ask me. It’s a lot cheaper in the egg section vs. the health food section. Like half price per gram of protein.
- Fruit. Fresh or frozen is best. Aldi has a great deal on frozen blueberries. And frozen strawberry combined WITH Tropical Strawberry Vegan Shakeology? INTENSE flavor.
- Ice and water, of course. 🙂 Filtered for less of that summer in the south ‘lake flavor’.
- Blue Diamond Coconut / Almond blend unsweetened. Best of both worlds. About half the calories of fat free milk with a creamy consistency.
- ..more to come as I think of them.
As for recipes, just throw it in a blender. You can’t mess it up. If you do, just add more of what you think it needs. But generally I pick the flavors and then end up with about .5 cups almond milk, .25 cups egg white (good texture too), Â 4-5 ice cubes, and water enough to leave a little space.
Oh, and I have to throw this one in there. For some reason, it has some waffle cone flavors in there. I bet it’s the almond and cashews coming through. Tony Horton’s favorite Shakeology!
1/2 cup of frozen blueberries
– 5 or 6 frozen strawberries
– 1/2 cup of cashews
– a couple ice cubes
– 1/2 cup of filtered water (Drink your water people– Tony Horton)
– Almond milk
– 1 scoop of Chocolate Vegan Shakeology
